Home learning support for children with SEND

The Start Well SEND team have put together a range of activities and resources to support parents in promoting their child’s learning and development at home. These include ideas of how to implement the strategies and approaches used by your child’s setting, so that they have continuity in their learning at home and in nursery.

Home learning ideas cover themes, including:

  • Sensory home learning
  • Sensory diet
  • Communication and interaction
  • Physical development
  • Early Years Music
  • Internet safety

Strategies to support daily life, include:

  • Countdown
  • Now and next
  • Positive strategies
  • Reward charts
  • Traffic light systems
  • De-escalation strategies.
