Bolton has two Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) where you can dispose of a variety of items. By bringing your waste and unwanted items to these HWRCs, we can ensure they are disposed of properly and recycled whenever possible.

How many times can I visit?

The number of annual visits you can make to Greater Manchester Suez Recycling Centres depends on your vehicle’s size:

  • Cars and cars with single axle trailers – 52 visits a year
  • Cars with a double axle trailer – 18 visits a year
  • Vehicles up to 3.5 tonne gross vehicle weight: 18 visits a year
  • Vans over 3.5 tonnes can visit 12 times a year

Van permit

If you’re using your own van, pick-up truck, or a twin axle trailer to dispose of household waste at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre, you’ll need a permit. For more information, and to apply for a permit, please visit the following link: https://recycleforgreatermanchester.com/van-permit/

If you’re using a car, no permit is required.

Removal of height restrictions

From 9 May 2022 we are making it easier for residents with vehicles over 2 metres to recycle their waste by allowing access to the recycling centres instead of the weighbridge.

What can I take?

For a full list of what you can take, please check our A-Z recycling guide at https://recycleforgreatermanchester.com/what-do-i-do-with/.

Please separate your waste and recycling before your visit to ensure you can place them in the correct containers upon arrival.
