Bolton Council has taken a flytipper to court, who evaded justice for more than a year.
In January 2016, Bolton Council discovered a pile of 20 bags of waste on Raikes Lane.
Beata Rogala was interviewed and accepted the waste had come from her house, but then failed to turn up to court twice, so a warrant was issued for her arrest.
She was arrested yesterday by police and taken straight to court, where she was fined £200, £250 costs and £30 victim surcharge
The council also fined a further four residents as part of its continued crack down on flytipping.
Paige Duffy pleaded guilty to dumping two bags of waste in the back street and was fined £185, costs of £120 and £30 victim surcharge.
Brian Brown also attended and pleaded guilty of dumping waste in the back streets and was fined £80, costs of £150 and victim surcharge of £30.
Brian Sutton did not attend and was found guilty in his absence of dumping a sofa in the back streets and was fined £120, with costs of £310 and £30 victim surcharge.
Klaudia Kilompar also did not attend and was found guilty in absence of dumping three bags of waste and was fined £120, with costs of £300 and £30 victim surcharge.
Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, Councillor Nick Peel, said: “The council’s behaviour change team have again secured more convictions against anti-social fly-tippers, including one individual who tried unsuccessfully to evade the courts for over a year.
I would like to assure residents that the council will continue to take all steps available to track down and prosecute those who wish to treat our neighbourhoods and this borough with complete disrespect.
Fly tipping is a crime which will not be tolerated.”
