Three people will have to pay a total of £2,139 after they were prosecuted by Bolton Council for dumping waste.

Rachael Molyneux was fined £440 and ordered to pay £480 costs and a £44 victim surcharge after an enforcement officer found 16 bags of rubbish behind her house.

The 35-year-old, of Holland Street, was issued with a fixed penalty notice but did not pay. She failed to attend Bolton Magistrates’ Court and the matter was proved in her absence on January 29.

Julia Lakatos (21), of Battenberg Road, also failed to pay a fixed penalty notice for leaving six bags of waste behind her home. She did not attend court and was fined £440 and ordered to pay £335 costs and a £44 victim surcharge in her absence.

Daniel Nikolics (25) was fined £100 with £226 costs and a £30 victim surcharge after leaving a three piece suite behind his house in Leach Street. He did not pay the fixed penalty notice which was issued and the matter was proved in his absence.

Executive Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, Cllr Nick Peel, said: “There is simply no excuse for dumping rubbish in this way.

“We are pleased with these substantial fines and we hope that they will deter others from blighting our neighbourhoods in this way.

“These cases also send a clear message to those who do not pay fixed penalty notices that we will pursue them in court.”
