Bolton Council has carried out four more successful prosecutions as part of its campaign to crack down on envirocrime.

Lauren Crimes was found guilty in her absence of dumping a suite at the back of Eldon Street. She was fined £660 and ordered to pay £232 in costs, plus £44 victim surcharge.

Stephen Knott pleaded guilty to dumping bin bags in the back streets of Tonge Moor and was fined £320 and ordered to pay £891 in costs, plus £32 victim surcharge.

Emma Martin was found guilty in her absence of dumping eleven bags of domestic waste in the back street of Nebraska Street. She was fined £220 and ordered to pay £352 in costs, plus £30 victim surcharge.

Umer Faruk Saleh pleaded guilty to passing waste to an unlicensed waste carrier and was fined £320 and ordered to pay 891.62 in costs plus £32 victim surcharge. Mr Saleh passed on three armchairs, a table and a pouffe from his business Kingston Furniture Warehouse to men who later dumped it on Fern Street, Bolton.

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, Councillor Nick Peel, said:

“We have said time and again that dumping waste in the back streets is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.
“These individuals have damaged Bolton’s environment and made a nuisance for its residents, and they must be made to pay the consequences of their actions.
We hope these prosecutions act as a deterrent to any potential future offenders.”
