Borrowing
A library membership card entitles you to borrow items from any of our libraries.
What can I borrow?
Adult membership allows you to borrow:
- up to 10 books, non-fiction DVDs, videos or language courses for three weeks
- up to six eBooks for three weeks
- up to six eAudio items for three weeks
- up to six feature film DVDs for three days*
- up to 10 talking books for three weeks*
Children (up to 16 years) can borrow:
- up to 10 books, non-fiction DVDs, videos or language courses for three weeks
- up to six eBooks for three weeks
- up to six eAudio items for three weeks
- up to six children’s feature film DVDs for three days*
- up to 10 talking books for three weeks*

We also have a wide range of reference items which cannot be taken out of the library, although you will find plenty of study areas within the library where you can sit and do your research in comfort.
Returning items
You can return items borrowed to any Bolton library.
The only exception to this is new DVDs which can only be borrowed from and returned to the same library.
