Working with adults - adult social care - care certificate

Care Certificate

The Care Certificate is an agreed set of standards that define the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of specific job roles in the health and social care sectors.

Developed jointly by Skills for CareHealth Education England and Skills for Health, the Care Certificate is made up of the 15 minimum standards that should be covered if you are 'new to care' and should form part of a robust induction programme.

Each standard has a workbook  that includes knowledge content and ends with a section where learners can record their understanding. Each standard also has a progress log, mapping and sign-off document that completed jointly by the employee and the manager/supervisor/assessor to confirm that all outcomes and criteria have been achieved in practice in the work setting.

To give you an idea what these documents are,  here is a workbook and progress log, mapping and sign-off document for Standard 1: Understand Your Role.

You can find similar documents for all 15 standards on Skills For Care website in the Care Certificate workbook  section.

In addition to the tools provided on the Skills For Care Website, we have developed a Care Certificate Standards-Matrix & Observation Record document to help you trace your progress of completing all 15 standards.
