Green fingered enthusiasts are being reminded that Heaton Fold Garden Centre will remain open during lockdown.

In the latest measures, all non-essential retail is required to close in England to help reduce cases of coronavirus. However, the government has listed garden centres as ‘essential retail’ enabling them to remain open with covid-secure measures in place.

Heaton Fold is on Overdale Drive (off Chorley New Road). Opening hours are 10am to 4pm, weekdays and weekends.

The gift shop will also remain open but the café will be closed until December 2 in line with national guidance.

Free on-site parking is available, and two metre markers outside the centre are in place to allow people to queue safely.

The centre has a signposted one-way system and staff will be on hand to assist customers and ensure appropriate distancing.

Payment is by card only, and only a limited number of customers will be allowed in the centre at the same time.

Staff have worked hard to ensure customers can enjoy their shopping experience in a safe environment.

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Environmental Services Delivery, Cllr Adele Warren, said: “Garden centres are vital to the health and wellbeing of the community and we are pleased that the government is allowing them remain open.

“Staff have worked hard to ensure customers can enjoy their shopping experience in a safe environment.

“Later this month, the centre will also be stocking fresh wreaths and Christmas trees.”

Christmas trees and wreaths will be available from November 20.
