Update on Bolton Council’s response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

STOP LOCAL LOCDOWN

Bolton and Trafford local restrictions

The government has confirmed that following a significant change in the level of infection rates over the last few days, a decision has been taken that Bolton and Trafford will now remain under existing restrictions.

This decision has been made in collaboration with local leaders after reviewing the latest data.

Restrictions in Bolton and Trafford will remain, meaning residents cannot meet people outside their bubbles either indoors in homes or in gardens.

Further information can be found on the council website.

Back to school safely: A guide for parents and pupils

The Director of Public Health, Dr Helen Lowey, has written to all parents to reassure them about the measure that are in place to make schools safe.

The council has also produced a comprehensive guide for parents and pupils ahead of returning to school in September.

The government has confirmed that all pupils across all year groups will return to school or college full-time at the beginning of the Autumn term.

The guidance includes details of the safety measures schools have put in place as well as the steps parents can take to help keep everyone safe.

Changes to the Care Act 2014

The government has updated its guidance to changes to the Care Act 2014 to help local authorities prioritise care and support during the coronavirus outbreak.

“Care Act easements: guidance for local authorities” has been updated to include reference to advocates, introduce the Care Act easements notification form and reflect changes to other published guidance. The Care Act easements notification form and ‘Care Act easements: supporting guidance’ have been added to the page.

Hoax video spreads misinformation on schools

The council has been made aware of a video containing dangerous false information about schools and COVID-19, as pupils return to the classroom at the start of the September term.

The video, shared on social media, claims that schools are testing pupils for coronavirus without permission from parents and taking children into quarantine if they test positive.

This is categorically untrue and urged others not to share the hoax video.
