She is offering her support to promote their activities and help them kick start reopening since lockdown.

This has included:

  • joined the 14th Bolton Boys brigade on their weekly zoom meeting to talk to the young members and how it has been during lockdown.
  • visited Urban Outreach distribution depot to thank and talk to staff and volunteers about their work and to hear about the increased demand for their services.
  • visited Fortalice women’s refuge centre to hear of their work and spoke with the Chief Executive Jill Smallwood on ways the Mayor may be able to help in anyway.
  • Visited BACKUP Northwest to meet staff and chief executive Maura Jackson, to hear of the work they have been doing and to find out if the Mayor could help them in any way.
  • opened Rocco’s Italian restaurant in Horwich which used lockdown to refurbish its business and now operating the Eat Out To Help Out Scheme.

The Mayor said: “I would like to do my bit to support the many wonderful businesses, charities or organisations in the borough particularly with any publicity they may need.

“We have been proud to see the work of so many varied organisations and how they are continuing to support people during this time.

“Please get in touch if you think I can help.”
