Motorists are being warned of road closures due to resurfacing work on Higher Bridge Street.
Overnight resurfacing to a section of the road - from Topp Way to Waters Meeting Road - will start on May 22. The work is expected to take around six weeks to complete.
In an effort to minimise disruption and keep traffic moving, the resurfacing scheme will be undertaken overnight and the road will be open at peak times.
Sections of Higher Bridge Street, from Topp Way to Waters Meeting Road, will close each evening from 7pm until 6am, to facilitate the work safely. The road will be open at all other times.
Motorists will need to use alternative routes during these times, which will be signposted.
During the work, there will be no access to Halliwell Road and Blackburn Road, from St Peter’s Way and Higher Bridge Street on: May 24 to 25, May 29 to 30, June 8 and 9, and June 12 and 13. Motorists are advised that these dates are subject to change, dependent on weather.
Advanced notice boards have been installed on affected routes to give motorists as much notice as possible.
Bolton Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, Cllr Elaine Sherrington, said: “This is a major route which is heavily used and this is why we have programmed the work to only take place in the evenings and overnight.
“We understand that this work is still likely to cause some disruption and I would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience.
“We would also like to thank motorists, residents and businesses for their patience and co-operation.”
