Overnight resurfacing work will start tonight at a major Farnworth junction.

Ongoing improvement work is already underway at the junction of Market Street and King Street.

From tonight (May 31) to June 15, Market Street between King Street and Nelson Street will be resurfaced overnight from 8pm to 6am.

In addition, the junction of Gladstone Road and Market Street will be resurfaced between June 16 and 17, from 8am to 5pm.

And Market Street between Gladstone Road and King Street will be resurfaced from 9.30am to 3.30pm, between June 18 to July 20. Temporary traffic signals will be in operation throughout these works.

Executive Cabinet Member of Highways and Transport, Cllr David Chadwick, said: “Once this work is complete it will make a really positive difference to commuters.

“We understand the work could cause some disruption but we have programmed the major resurfacing work to take place overnight.

“We would like to thank everyone for bearing with us while the work takes place.”

The Market Street and King Street junction work is funded by the Greater Manchester Local Growth Deal as part of the Salford Bolton Network Improvement programme.
