Temporary traffic signals are used to safely control the flow of traffic when works reducing the available road space are carried out. If the works are only for a very brief period of time on a minor road STOP/GO boards may be used instead.
Anyone using temporary traffic lights on the highway need our permission.
Problems with temporary traffic lights
If you notice that the lights:
- aren't working or that have a lamp that has failed
- are causing excessive traffic delays by changing too quickly or not quickly enough
- have been knocked over, moved, stolen or vandalised
please contact the contractor carrying out the works. An information board will be displayed near the lights with a phone number to report any faults or problems.
If you have further problems please let us know.
