The council’s Land Charges team, that sits within the planning department, has been commended for its efficiency and excellent customer service at a national awards event.

Bolton Council has been awarded runner up for both the Local Land Authority Searches Team of the Year and for the Best in Metropolitan Councils - Customer Satisfaction Award, at the Land Data Local Land Charges Awards 2025.

Land Data is the major industry body for national Land Charges.

The national awards celebrate the work and achievements of Local Land Charges departments in England and Wales.

A local authority search, carried out by the planning department, assesses the local area and land where the property you are buying is located.

Local authority searches highlight matters such as planning issues, building control issues, highways issues and pollution issues.

Cllr Akhtar Zaman, Bolton Council’s Deputy Leader, said:

“These national awards rightly recognise and reflect significant improvements made to the Local Land Charges service which has resulted in an efficient service with faster turnaround times for those involved in purchasing or selling property.

“The Customer Satisfaction award is particularly welcome as it reflects the very positive feedback from Land Data’s survey and demonstrates the commitment to delivering a consistently high level of customer service.”
