Bolton Council has been officially recognised as a Disability Confident Leader by the UK Government's Disability Confident Scheme.
The award recognises the council’s commitment and dedication to disabled people in the workplace through embedded policies and practises.
Achieving the Disability Confident Leader status represents the highest level of recognition within the Disability Confident scheme.
As part of the validation process the council has been able to demonstrate that recruitment processes are fair and inclusive for people with disabilities.
The council has an extensive range of initiatives, policies, procedures, practices in place to support disabled staff in their employment and with their career development.
Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Nick Peel, said:
