A £257,000 scheme to improve Ainsworth Lane will begin on Monday, February 6.
The resurfacing work is part of Bolton Council’s borough-wide road maintenance programme.
Ainsworth Lane will be fully resurfaced from Jack Street to Jethro Street. The work is expected to finish at the end of February subject to weather conditions.
Between February 6 and 17, the road will remain open but temporary traffic signals will be in operation to enable drainage work to be carried out.
From February 18 to 25, Ainsworth Lane will be shut in both directions daily from 7am to 7pm, to enable the resurfacing work to be undertaken safely.
Traffic will be diverted on to Bury Road, Crompton Way and Thicketford Road. Diversion routes will be signposted.
Residents and businesses have been informed about the work.
Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Environmental Services and local councillor, Cllr Nick Peel, said: “Ainsworth Lane is on a bus route and this work is necessary to bring it up to standard.
“We understand that road works can cause inconvenience and we’d like to thank the public in advance for their patience while this work is underway.”
Bus users affected by the road closure and who are unable to use diverted stops, may be able to access Transport for Greater Manchester’s Ring and Ride Service. Eligibility criteria apply, for more information call 0161 200 6011.
