Two Bolton Council apprentices have been recognised for their achievements at a national event.
Jordan Smith and Chelsea Beal were amongst 119 apprentices who took part in the recent Local Government Apprenticeship of the Year 2024 event.
Jordan works within the council’s sign shop as a technician and Chelsea works in the accountancy team.
Split into teams with apprentices from across the country, Jordan and Chelsea competed for the coveted title in a series of online challenges based around this year’s theme of Health and Wellbeing.
Jordan’s team clinched the award for joint Best Overall Team.

“Jordan and Chelsea are fantastic ambassadors for apprenticeships in local government. We are proud of their success and that they have been recognised at a national event.
“They have represented Bolton Council brilliantly and congratulations to Jordan for the Best Overall Team Award.
“Apprenticeship schemes are an important and highly valued aspect of our workforce which bring new talent to drive the future success of the organisation”.
Local Government Apprentice of the Year is a joint partnership event between the LGA, East of England LGA and South West Councils.
The event is open to all councils in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Now in its fourth year, this one-day national event brought together 119 Level 2 and 3 local government apprentices from across England and Wales.
Building on the success of previous events, all those taking part were either current apprentices or qualified within the last 12 months.
This year’s event was themed around Health and Wellbeing with each activity designed to draw on that theme while helping to develop successful workplace behaviours, linked to a range of apprenticeship standards.
