A new bus lane will come into effect on Monday (July 31) on Great Moor Street.

The final resurfacing work has been taking place this week, and from Monday the temporary one way system currently in place on Great Moor Street will be removed and a new bus lane will open to help traffic flow when the new interchange opens.

The new lane will operate in an easterly direction from St Patrick’s Church, on Newport Street, to Bradshawgate.

This will mean that traffic cannot turn on to Bradshawgate from Great Moor Street, and will need to use Newport Street and Trinity Street to get on to Bradshawgate.

It does mean that from Monday all traffic will be able to turn on to Great Moor Street from Bradshawgate.

Work has been taking place during the last four months to improve the junctions, signalling, pedestrian access and road surface of Great Moor Street to help traffic flow when the new £48m transport interchange opens in early September.

The new transport interchange is being delivered by Transport for Greater Manchester with Bolton Council. The £48 million scheme is being funded by the Greater Manchester Transport Fund.
