The Bolton Transport Strategy defines the Council’s transport priorities in support of sustainable economic growth as well as delivering our commitments to climate change, carbon reduction, improved air quality and health.

The benefits to having a local transport strategy document is to reflect national and city regional policy, guidance and funding criteria at the local level. Through the strategy we can develop future programme of schemes that reflect these criteria enabling Bolton to better influence funding opportunities and maximise investment in the Bolton transport network in the future.

The Bolton Transport Strategy has been aligned with the Greater Manchester 2040 Transport Strategy in terms of timescales and proposes funding programmes aligned to national funding settlements to the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
