Heaton Fold Garden Centre reopened to the public (15 May) with new measures in place to ensure social distancing guidelines are followed.

OPENING HOURS UPDATE (21.05.20):

Heaton Fold Garden Centre is temporarily adjusting its opening times to allow staff more time to re-stock and prepare for the day ahead.

Weekday opening times will now match those at the weekend – the centre will be open 10am to 4pm (Mon-Sun).

The council-run horticultural business on Overdale Drive (off Chorley New Road) was closed to residents due to the lockdown.

Following updated government guidelines, the centre has now reopened with additional safety measures introduced to protect customers and staff.

Free on-site parking is available, and two metre markers have been set outside the centre to allow people to queue safely.

A signposted one-way system is in place inside the centre where staff will be on hand to assist customers and ensure appropriate distancing.

Only a limited number of customers will be allowed in the centre at the same time to further reduce infection risks.

Perspex screens have been installed at tills and payment will be also only be taken by card.

The café and toilets will remain closed. People are encouraged to shop individually - groups and those with dogs are not allowed.

Cllr Adele Warren, Executive Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, said: “We know that Heaton Fold is loved by many gardening enthusiasts.

“We are looking forward to welcoming you back but we must stress the importance of everyone abiding by the social distancing guidelines.

“Measures are in place for your safety and the protection of our staff. Please work with us and shop safely.”

The centre recently introduced a home delivery service – this will be suspended temporarily to allow the team to focus on the centre reopening to the public.
