Normal charges will be reintroduced at on-street pay and displays in Bolton from next week but NHS and other essential workers can still park for free.
Drivers parking in the town centre will need to pay the usual charges from Monday, May 4.
NHS staff, health and social care workers, and volunteer responders can continue to park for free and just need to display a pass clearly on the dashboard.
The government launched the parking pass scheme on April 6. The pass is distributed via employers to key workers.
Drivers are reminded that concessions do not apply in locations such as disabled bays, suspended bays and double yellow lines.
Parking charges were suspended at all on-street bays in response to the coronavirus crisis.
Executive Cabinet Member for Highways, Cllr Stuart Haslam, said: “We want to do all that we can to support our NHS staff, health workers and volunteers during these difficult times.
“Free parking will allow them to continue their vital work – please just display your pass on the dashboard. Offering free parking means there is one less thing for them to worry about.”
Free parking on weekends and Bank Holidays remains in place for all residents in NCP multi-storey car parks (Deane Road, Topp Way and Octagon).
