Amazing cuisine will not be the only treats on offer at Bolton Food and Drink Festival – there will also be a fantastic feast of live music to tuck into.
More than 70 bands, singers and entertainers will be taking to two stages over the Bank Holiday Weekend to keep the crowds entertained at the town centre event, which is sponsored by Aldi.
Music lovers can enjoy some of the best local bands and musicians at the Festival Music Stage on Le Mans Crescent and the Acoustic Bar on Victoria Square over the four days.
The live music areas are free to enter and no tickets are required.
Headlining on Friday (August 23) on the Festival Stage will be The Courtbetweeners. Tribute band True Order and highly rated Bolton five-piece Attic Doctors will also be performing. On the Acoustic Bar stage headliners will be The Jelly Heads.
On Saturday (August 24), The Lancashire Hotpots, a comedy folk band from St Helens, will entertain the crowds on the Festival Stage. Talented members of Bolton Ukele Group will take to the Festival stage earlier in the day. Bolton covers band , will headline at the Acoustic Bar.
Elvis tribute act Tommy Holland will rock the Festival Stage on Sunday (August 25). Other highlights include the Eagley Brass Band – one of the oldest brass bands in the world - performing in the afternoon. The Acoustic Bar stage will welcome The Buskers Ball of Bolton, who will be hosting an open mic afternoon (11am to 8pm).
On Monday (August 26), catch headliners Blank Cheque, as well as Tommy Govan and Grumpy Old Men’s Practice on the main stage. Highlights on the Acoustic Bar (stage) include boyband Conixi and poet Oliver Lomax.
Cllr David Greenhalgh, Leader of Bolton Council, said: “There is so much going on over this amazing festival – we aim to offer something for everyone.
“The free live music is an integral part of the event and we know that the crowds love to get into the spirit of the festival.
“With such a variety of music across the four days, I am sure we will appeal to everyone’s tastes.”
Music organiser Dawn Louise Price added: “The stages have grown considerably in the last seven years that music has been a feature and there is a real eclectic mix this year.
“Live music, dance acts, folk, ska, reggae, local original bands such as The Attic Doctors, tribute acts to The Courteeners and New Order – the festival will have it all.
“Local performers are centre stage with Bolton’s own Tommy Holland as Elvis returning from his trip to Memphis. The Saturday headliners, The Lancashire Hotpots have attended the festival in previous years as guests and are excited to be performing their headline slot at this year’s festival.”
Celebrity chefs including James Martin, Gregg Wallace, the Hairy Bikers and Michael Caines, will show off their culinary skills at live demonstrations.
