Residents will be asked to give their vision for how Bolton could look in 2030 as part of an exhibition which will tour the borough’s libraries.

In January, leaders from Bolton’s public, private, faith, voluntary, education and community sector organisations met at the Albert Halls for the Vision Conference, to discuss their plans for the future with hundreds of delegates from across the town and beyond.

Following the conference, an exhibition was put on display in Central Library during half term week and local residents were asked to contribute their thoughts on what an active, connected and prosperous Bolton could look like in 2030.

Residents could write their thoughts onto little cardboard ‘people’, which were then displayed for others to look at.

Comments included: “My dream is of a vibrant and colourful Bolton”; “I would like more activities for kids” and “My dream is all different groups of people will have found a way to live side by side in peace and mutual respect.”

The exhibition will now go on tour around Bolton’s libraries, starting on Bromley Cross on Monday 13 March and ending in Breightmet on the week beginning Monday 8 May.

This will allow all residents from across the borough to give their thoughts, opinions and what they would like to see in Bolton in 2030.

Leader of Bolton Council, Councillor Cliff Morris said: “We were delighted with the ideas that came out of the Vision conference and with the level of enthusiasm, passion and commitment, which all our delegates showed for developing a vision for Bolton in the future. We now want to ask the people of Bolton for their ideas for how they would like Bolton to look in 2030.”

Chair of the Vision Partnership, Dave Singleton said: “We have chosen the year 2030 for our focus, as that is the year when a current reception age child will finish school.

I am really pleased with the ideas that came out of the exhibition’s first stop at Central Library and with the residents’ enthusiasm and passion for Bolton.

We hope that residents will visit this exhibition as it tours around the borough and give us more ideas, opinions and thoughts for how we can all work together to make Bolton a better place in the future.”
