The hunt for talented singers to appear in the 2019 series of The Voice is coming to Bolton.
Auditions for the hit ITV show will take place at the Albert Halls next month and are open to soloists, duets and trios.
Theatre Programmer and Events Co-ordinator at the Albert Halls, James Edgington, appeared in the 2010 series of Britain’s Got Talent with his father, Graham.
The singing duo, Father and Son, made it to the semi-finals and James said: “I would say to anyone who is thinking about applying for The Voice ‘go for it’.
“Appearing on BGT and getting to sing in front of millions of people on live TV was an amazing experience. Even though we didn’t win, the training that we received during the show was incredible - something that money can’t buy - and we made so many contacts in the business.
“The most nerve-wracking part of the whole experience was actually the auditions so you need to be 100 per cent prepared and really give it your best shot.”
The auditions take place from 4pm on May 7. All styles of singing are welcome and hopefuls must be aged 16 or over on or before October 1, 2018, to take part.
Slots must be booked in advance by emailing james.edgington@bolton.gov.uk and performances will take place in front of producers from The Voice.
People must prepare one song to be performed with a backing track, an instrument or acapella. Backing tracks and instruments must be provided by the performer and backing tracks need to be on an electronic device.
People who make it through to the live shows will take part in the famous blind auditions where they will have a shot at persuading one of the celebrity judges to turn their chair and choose them to coach throughout the series. Next year’s line-up is still to be announced but the judges on the current series are Sir Tom Jones, Will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson and Olly Murs.
Bolton Council’s Assistant Director for Community Services, Donna Ball, said: “It’s exciting news that The Voice auditions are coming to the Albert Halls and I know there are lots of talented singers who will want to take part.
“I’m sure there will be lots of nerves on the day but this is a great opportunity for people to shine and who knows, perhaps the next Will.i.am or Jennifer Hudson will start their career at the Albert Halls.”
