An amazing selection of musical talent will be unwrapped at this year’s Christmas Lights Switch-On on Thursday November 16.
From 5.30pm, crowds will be treated to free performances from local favourites Bolton Children’s Workshop, Bolton Baton Twirlers and Dance Fusion, who are regular performers at the switch-on.
Local singer Hayley Eccles will also be performing, who starred in ITV’s ‘The Voice earlier this year and made it all the way to the knockout rounds.
From 6pm, the town’s rising stars Jordan Allen will be taking it up a notch, performing a selection of their hits. The indie four-piece have enjoyed sell-out gigs in 2017, joining the line-up of Isle of Wight and Dot to Dot festivals, as well as performing at Bolton Food and Drink Festival earlier in the summer.
They will be followed by the stars of Cinderella, this year’s panto at the Albert Halls.
Tommy Holland as Elvis, winner of King of Britain 2017, and a Slade tribute act will provide some classic rock and roll tunes to round off the show, before Paddy performs the switch-on at 7pm.
There will also be free parking after 3pm in the town centre multi-storey car parks each weekday until December 31, in addition to all day every weekend and bank holidays all year round.
Deputy Leader of Bolton Council, Councillor Linda Thomas said: “We are pleased to give our young musicians, singers and dancers the opportunity to showcase their talents, in the first half of our show. In the second half, we’ll have a mixture of indie tunes from Jordan Allen, as well as old favourites from Elvis and Slade to really get the party going.
“We’ve got an extremely talented and varied line-up this year, with a number of acts who are already making their way in the music world. Existing fans – and new ones – are in for a treat.”
The event will end with a spectacular fireworks’ display from the roof of the town hall.
The evening’s entertainment won’t stop there, as some of the acts will then make their way to the Market Place Shopping Centre to perform there from 7pm – 8pm, including Tommy Holland as Elvis and Bolton Ukelele Band.
Nikki Wilson-Cook, Market Place Shopping Centre manager said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Christmas Lights Switch-On, which promises to be an evening of family entertainment.
“After the lights switch on, we hope that people will join us for more great live music, as well as a drink or a bite to eat in the Vaults and we’ll be open for late-night Xmas shopping till 8pm.”
