Quitting smoking is a challenge, but there's no need to go it alone – smokers are three times more likely to succeed in quitting with specialist help.

Smokefree Bolton aims to help more people quit smoking.

Smokefree Bolton supports local smokers, aged 12 years and over, with free personalised support and tobacco replacement therapies to quit the habit for good.

It is delivered by community stop smoking services including Your Health Bolton, Bolton pharmacies and Bolton NHS as well as using mobile apps.

There is also support from national companies such as Allen Carr’s Easyway Stop Smoking method.

Despite a decline in smoking rates, Bolton still has a higher average proportion of smokers compared to other parts of the country, with around 44,000 residents smoking daily across the borough.

This poses a significant health risk for local residents, as smoking is a major contributor to heart disease, respiratory illnesses, cancer, dementia, and other serious conditions.

In England, smoking is responsible for one in four cancer deaths and claims the lives of up to two-thirds of its long-term users.

Quitting smoking offers an immediate health boost and can save an average of £2,000 annually on cigarette purchases.

It’s never too late to quit smoking - even if you’ve tried quitting before, give it another go this No Smoking Day.

Cllr Jackie Schofield, Executive Member for Health and Wellbeing at Bolton Council, said:

“We’re delighted to support No Smoking Day once again, but really every day is a no smoking day for Bolton with the free quit smoking services that are on offer all year around.

“SmokeFree Bolton offers innovative and clinically proven products that increase your chances of giving up the habit for good.

“If you smoke then please try quitting with SmokeFree Bolton as it’s easier than going it alone and completely free.”
