Tickets for Bolton’s popular Winter Festival are now on sale online.

The Christmas spectacular has been organised by Bolton Council in association with the University of Bolton.

The council announced recently that it was bringing a host of attractions to town, including the popular 55 metre snow slide, to attract shoppers and boost trade over the festive period.

From December 2 to January 7, two giant attractions will form the centrepiece of the event.

Newport Street will see the return of the artificial snow slide which has been a huge hit with thousands of thrill seekers and Victoria Square will host a covered ice rink.

Visit www.boltonwinterfestival.com to buy tickets and for more information, visit @BoltonWinterFestival on Facebook or @BoltonWinterFes on Twitter.

The ice rink will open daily from 9am to 8.30pm. Opening times on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Eve from 9am to 5pm. The attractions are closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, and hours may vary dependent on weather and school trips, and special late night offers.

The slide will open daily from 10am and until 5pm on Sundays, until 7pm Monday to Wednesday, and 8pm Thursday to Saturday.

From December 9 to 20, a festive Christmas Market will open in and around Victoria Square and an Alpine Ski Lodge bar will also be located on Newport Street.

Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Cliff Morris said: “The snow slide and ice rink have proved to be extremely popular attractions in our Winter Festival programme, so we’re thrilled to be welcoming them back once again this year.

“In addition, we have got some traditional favourites, such as the Santa’s grotto and festive market, so there will be something for all the family to enjoy.

“I would encourage everyone check out the website for details and to book in advance to avoid disappointment, then come along and enjoy a fun-filled festive period in the town centre.”

The snow slide costs £3 for one ride and £5 for two rides. The ice rink costs £7.50 for adults; £3.50 aged 14 and under, and £5 for senior citizens and students. Family tickets at £20 (includes two adults and two children or one adult with three children). Late night and student night tickets can also be purchased - prices vary, check online for details.

A discounted rate of £3.50 per person is also on offer for ‘Penguin Club’, parent and child (aged 8 and under) ice skating sessions. These will take place 9am to 10am at weekends, and also from Wednesday, December 20 daily from 9am to 10am.
