A planning inquiry into proposed changes to the development of Hulton Park will be held on Thursday and Friday this week (October 6 and 7).

The hearing will begin at 10am each day at the Holiday Inn, at 1 Higher Bridge Street in Bolton town centre and members of the public are welcome to attend.

In 2020, the Secretary of State ruled that Peel LP could build housing and a golf course on land at Hulton Park on the condition that the site is chosen as a future Ryder Cup venue.

Earlier this year, Bolton Council’s Planning Committee refused an application to alter the agreed plans for the site.

This refusal is now being appealed, and the committee’s decision will be reviewed over the course of the two day inquiry.

Anyone wishing to speak at the inquiry should inform the Planning Inspectorate case officer Helen Skinner by emailing helen.skinner@planninginspectorate.gov.uk.

Alternatively, those attending the hearing should let the Planning Inspectorate know at the start of proceedings if they wish to make representations.

The Planning Inspectorate will make a final decision on the appeal at a later date.
