Bolton Town Hall will light up in a sign of solidarity with Ukraine and our town’s proud Ukrainian community.
The Ukrainian flag will also be flown on the roof of Bolton Central Library in a further show of support.
Russian forces invaded Ukraine in the early hours of Thursday morning, prompting widespread condemnation from the international community.
In a joint statement, Bolton Council Leader Cllr Martyn Cox and Chief Executive Tony Oakman said:
“Like all of you, we were shocked and saddened by the news of this unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces.
“Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine at this frightening and uncertain time.
“Bolton is lucky to have an active and vibrant Ukrainian community and we are proud to display the flag and colours of Ukraine in sign of solidarity with them.”
