The council has produced an activity toolkit to support residents and voluntary groups to act safely and remain cautious whilst organising and enjoying summer activities and events.

In Bolton, huge progress has been made in reducing COVID-19 infection rates but there is still a risk of catching or passing on the virus.

The risks are higher:

  • In crowded spaces, where there are more people who may be infectious
  • In enclosed indoor spaces where there is limited fresh air

Some activities can increase the risk of catching or passing on COVID-19 including singing, dancing, exercising, shouting, or cheering.

We encourage everyone to take extra precautions to keep infection rates down by:

  • taking twice weekly lateral flow tests
  • washing hands regularly,
  • keeping homes well ventilated
  • meeting outside where you can
  • considering wearing a face-covering when in enclosed spaces and
  • taking up the vaccine when offered

As we enjoy the summer, the council urges residents, volunteers, staff, and group members to follow guidance to help stop the spread of the virus and keep yourself and others safe.

Councillor Susan Baines, Executive Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, says:

“COVID-19 hasn’t gone away.

“As organisations start to organise events and activities again, it’s important that they continue to be COVID responsible.

“We want everyone to be safe as they enjoy the summer.

“We have a raft of helpful information on the council website including answers to frequently asked questions as well as advice on testing and self- isolation.

“To enhance this we have created an activity toolkit for organisations and groups to use when arranging activities or events.

“We will continually update this guide and the FAQs to include the very latest advice.

“I recommend that everybody follows the guidance when organising group activities, no matter how small”.
