New vaccine sites available

New drop-in sites will be available at the weekend, offering first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

  • New Bury UCAN, George St, Farnworth, Bolton BL4 9PU (Fri 25th – Sat 26th, 10-4pm)
  • Middlebrook Retail Park, The Linkway, Horwich, Bolton BL6 6JA (Sat 26th – Sun 27th, 10-4pm)

No appointment is needed and anyone that is 18 and over in Bolton can attend.

Let’s get tested Bolton 

Our local testing teams are handing out free LFD (lateral flow device) test kits at:

  • Lever Chambers (Fri 25th, 9am – 2pm)
  • New Bury UCAN, George St, Farnworth, Bolton BL4 9PU (Fri 25th – Sat 26th, 10-4pm)

Deliveroo tells customers if COVID-19 is spreading in their area

The new Deliveroo app notifies customers if they are in a COVID-19 hot spot when they pay for the food to be delivered.

It does this by linking to the gov.uk website with information on where variants of concern are spreading fastest.

The app links to customers’ postcodes and advises them to visit their local authority’s website to find out where to get tested and get further guidance.

Bolton Council bids for £36m from Levelling Up Fund

Bolton is in line for more than £36m in government infrastructure funding, helping to bring jobs and exciting new developments to the borough.

Bolton Council, with the support of local MPs, has submitted two bids to the first round of the government’s Levelling Up Fund.

If successful, one bid would secure £16.2m towards the ongoing redevelopment of Crompton Place shopping centre.

A second bid would see a £20m contribution towards the cost of building the Bolton College of Medical Sciences (BCMS).

Ironman UK returns to Bolton next week

Bolton’s iconic IRONMAN event returns next week.  

The event kicks off with a 5K Night Run on Friday, July 2, before the main event, the triathlon, which takes place in Bolton and the surrounding area on Sunday, July 4.

There will also be music and entertainment to enjoy.

Hairdressers to help cut out domestic abuse

Free training will help hair and beauty professionals spot the signs of domestic abuse and help signpost victims to the support they need.

Cut it Out Bolton is a community initiative designed to teach those working in the hair and beauty industry how to respond if they know or suspect a client is the victim of abuse.

Starting on Monday, June 28, three online training sessions will be provided by the charity Fortalice.

Have your say on proposed boundary changes

The Boundary Commission for England recently published proposals for new constituency boundaries across the country and is keen to know what you think.

Bolton residents can see what their new constituencies might look like and give the commission their views on the consultation website.

The consultation is open until Monday, 2nd August 2021.

Celebrating Windrush Day

The Caribbean and African Health Network (CAHN) are holding their annual Windrush flagship event ‘Windrush Day’ on Saturday June 26, between 1pm-4pm.

The event will include presentations and discussions around shared history, culture and heritage.

The event will be taking place via Zoom.
