The Boundary Commission for England recently published proposals for new constituency boundaries across the country and is keen to know what you think.

Bolton residents can see what their new constituencies might look like and give the commission their views on the consultation website.

The consultation is open until Monday 2nd August 2021.

Overall, the proposal would increase the number of constituencies in England and make each parliamentary seat more equal in terms of the registered electorate in each area.

Under the proposals the constituencies of Bolton North East and Bolton West would remain while a new constituency of Bolton South and Walkden would be created by expanding the existing boundaries of Bolton South East.

Bolton Council’s returning officer, Chief Executive Tony Oakman, said:

“It is important that people make their voice heard and have a say on the shape of the constituencies and how they link to our local communities.

“The commission will consider all feedback and will only make a final decision after a series of public hearings and two further consultations.”
