With the 2021 local elections still four months away, plans are already in place to make sure Bolton residents can cast their votes safely and with confidence.

Elections 2021Bolton will go to the polls on Thursday, May 6 to vote for their local councillor as well as the Mayor of Greater Manchester.

As always, there will be a number of ways for the public to have their say, voting either in person at a local polling station, by post or by appointing a proxy to vote on their behalf.

Many familiar COVID-19 safety measures will be in place at polling stations such as hand sanitiser, floor markings and face coverings.

Those who would feel more comfortable voting by post or via a proxy are urged to apply as soon as possible either online or by calling 01204 331 248.

Bolton Council’s returning officer, Chief Executive Tony Oakman, said:

“The elections this year are very important – they are an opportunity to make your voice heard and have a say on who represents you on issues that directly affect day-to-day life.

“We are thinking about these elections now so that, however you choose to cast your vote in May, you can do so safely.

“Arrangements are in place to help you stay safe at the polling station, but you also have the option to apply to vote by post or by proxy.”

All 2020 council elections were postponed by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
