The Darren Deady Foundation
The Darren Deady Foundation are a volunteer team of forces veterans who offer a variety of support to those who need it.
This support includes:
- Help with food packs
- Benefits advice
- Liaising with housing / local councils
- Help filling in forms
- Nearly new furniture and if in stock some white goods
- Referrals to trusted mental health organisations

Greater Manchester Shining a Light on Suicide campaign
This important GM campaign provides various types of support, including to those from the military community
One of the Stories of Hope films which are available on the site features Owen, who is a veteran.
There is also free online suicide prevention training available from the site created by Zero Suicide Alliance, who also offer veteran specific training.
Bereavement support is also provided by Greater Manchester Bereavement Service.
Veterans' Gateway
The Veterans' Gateway service is the first point of contact for all tri-service veterans, and their families. Its expert content covers welfare areas and, based on your location, you can access the support you need with finances, housing, employment, relationships, physical and mental health, and more.
You can phone, chat, email and text to speak to the helpline team. They are always available 24/7, and happy to assist with your enquiry.

Forces Connect App
Forces Connect is a crossborder partnership which was created to support the aims of the Armed Forces Covenant and promote a greater understanding and awareness of the issues which affect the Armed Forces Community within public services.
Their app is available on smartphones and aims to produce an easy to use and comprehensive directory of valuable contacts and information for those seeking help within the Armed Forces Community. It provides support with employment, housing and families, and much more.
Not all areas of the UK are currently covered, but this is gradually being extended.
Combat Stress
Combat Stress provide clinical treatment and support for veterans from the British Armed Forces, with a focus on those with complex mental health issues. The first step to access their services is to contact their free 24vhour confidential mental health helpline. You can call, text or email.

Defence Medical Welfare Service
The Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) is an independent charity providing 24/7 help and support to the armed forces community during times of physical or mental ill health, either in hospital, rehabilitation settings, or at home.
They provide support for serving military, reservists, veterans, and their families.

Walking with The Wounded - Head Start
Head Start provides one to one private therapy for ex-service personnel with mild to moderate mental health difficulties such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and adjustment disorder.
