Private Hire Holding Area is Changing - Taxi trade updates

The Private Hire Holding Area (PHHA) offers drivers somewhere to wait for arriving passengers; before moving into the Terminal Pick-up Zones. 

The PHHA has proved popular with drivers, however:

• As drivers are regularly waiting in the PHHA for long periods, the area is frequently reaching capacity. 
• Maintenance and servicing costs have increased due to the number of drivers using the PHHA. 
• Hazards relating to manoeuvring space and overflowing toilets have arisen 

To address these issues on 1st August 2024 Manchester Airport will be implementing the following changes: 

• The maximum stay will reduce to 90 minutes
• The charge for using the PHHA will be £1.50 per visit 

WE HOPE THESE CHANGES WILL ALLOW SAFE AND FAIR ACCESS TO THE PHHA FOR ALL DRIVERS. 

Manchester Airport is reviewing the facilities at the Private Hire Holding Area and we would like drivers to share their views.
