Electrical engineer.

Came to live in Horwich in 1887.

He was elected to the Council in 1906, lost his seat in 1908 but was re-elected in 1912 and served until 1921.

Chairman of the Housing Committee and had the honour of cutting the first sod on Brazley Estate in 1919. He also laid the foundation stone of the first house on New Year's Day 1920. These houses were built for servicemen returning from the First World War.

He became a Magistrate in 1922.

He was an Honourable Member of Horwich Golf Club, a member of the Scientific and Photographic Society and Chairman of the Railway Veterans Association.

Unitarian - he assisted the Horwich Unitarian Chapel in many ways.
