He also worked at Union Mill Bolton and as a transport and bus driver. He came to Little Lever in 1948 and took over a milk delivery round.
Member and Trustee of Little Lever Conservative Club.
Represented Church Ward from 1956, serving for 15 years.
He represented the Council on the Area Children's Committee for 14 years and on the Bolton and District Joint Sewerage Board for 11 years.
Freemason. He was a member of Moorside Lodge, Bolton.
