General Manager, Little Lever Manufacturing Company, Bradley Mill, Little Lever.
He served in France in the First World War.
He began work in 1906 with the above company cleaning looms, working his way up to General Manager, retiring in 1953. He was a member of the Manchester Royal Exchange.
Represented Church Ward from 1950.
Chairman of Establishment and Finance.
Represented the Council on the Irwell Valley Water Board.
He served on the governing bodies of St Matthew's, Little Lever Secondary Modern and Bolton School.
He was Treasurer of Little Lever Cricket Club for 14 years and was on the Committee of the Little Lever branch of the Old Age Pensioners Association.
He was a member of the British Legion and the Conservative Club.
On his death a Labour Councillor said, "He was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word."
