He ran a mineral water business, which his parents founded in the village.

Represented Church Ward 1905-23 and 1929-32. Retired 1932.

He was an Overseer for 14 years and was Chairman of the Military Tribunal during the First World War. He also served on other related Committees.

Served on the Conservative Club Committee and was also Chairman of the Walpole Club.

He was a keen fisherman in his younger days.

He lived in Garstang for 15 years, where he was well known, but spent all his working life in Little Lever.

Anglican - he worshipped at St Matthew's Church.
