Cotton manufacturer.
Head of Thomas Holden & Son, Cotton Manufacturers, Moss Rose Mill and also Head of W & J Almond (Manchester) Ltd, Merchants.
Came to Kearsley in 1903 to work in the family business.
First elected to Kearsley UDC in 1929 and served until 1936.
On two occasions, 1934 and 1937 he unsuccessfully sought election to Lancashire County Council.
Governor of Farnworth Grammar School and a member of the Mather Trust. He was a Manager of St Stephen's School, Kearsley.
Anglican - he was a talented musician and could play the organ, piano, violin, cello and flute. Shortly after coming to Kearsley he was appointed organist and choirmaster at St Stephen's Church, a position he held for 13 years. He then went to Farnworth and Kearsley Parish Church where he was organist and choirmaster for 20 years.
Conductor of the Bolton Amateur Operatic Society from 1919 to 1922, the Eccles Amateur Operatic Society for 2 seasons and the Bolton Choral Union.
Member of the Hallé Choir for over 25 years rising to the position of Chairman of the Chorus Committee and Chorus Representative.
Left the district in 1936 moving to St Anne's for health reasons.
Worshipped at St Anne's-on-Sea Parish Church where he was a Sidesman.
Elected to the Borough Council at St Anne's in 1937 and was a member until his death.
His son, N T Holden, became a Doctor.
He died suddenly whilst taking a Turkish bath at Lytham.
