Represented West Ward 1908-22.
Magistrate (permanent from 1918) - previously he was an ex-officio member of the Bench. Member of the Probation Committee and sat on the Police Court Mission Committee.
As Chairman he presented the Kearsley First World War hero and future Mayor of Farnworth Lt Jesse Seddon MC with a gold watch and an illuminated address at a meeting of Kearsley Urban District Council in September 1918.
Member of Kearsley Education Committee and a Manager of Kearsley West Council School.
Donated the shield which was competed for annually by Kearsley housing tenants for the best garden.
President of Farnworth Conservative Club, serving 35 years in an official capacity and was also Chairman of the Limited Company at the club.
Anglican - he worshipped at St John's Church and was a member of the choir for 30 years. He was vice-president of the Mutual Improvement Society and a manager of St John's Day School.
