Son of Thomas White, Chairman of Farnworth UDC 1925-26.
He was a joiner for Kearsley Council.
Member of the Territorial Army (6th Bn, The Loyal Regiment) until 1939. Called up in the Second World War and served in India and Burma.
He lost his seat on Farnworth Council in 1932 but was re-elected in 1946.
He opened the new bandstand in Farnworth Central Park on 17 June 1955 (cost £1500) and opened Marsh Lane Branch Library on 9 September 1955 (cost £4600)
He represented Farnworth on Greater Manchester Council from 1973 until his death.
Roman Catholic - he attended St Gregory's R C Church Farnworth.
He was the first unmarried Mayor of Farnworth and his Mayoress was Mrs Edna Margaret Ramsden, his sister.
He lived at 55 Peel Street, Farnworth with his sister and her husband.
