Represented Tonge with the Haulgh Ward from 1999.
Family came to live in Horwich in 1953 when she was 4 years old.
She worked at the Beehive Mill in Horwich and Osman textiles in Bolton.
Following her marriage in 1969 she moved away and had two daughters, returning to live in Bolton in 1979.
Held many Executive and Cabinet roles including Recycling and Waste, Cleaner Greener Safer, Adults, Housing and Highways and her last role as Cabinet Member for Housing and Anti-Poverty.
Her daughter, Samantha, was Mayoress.
