Order a death certificate
We can only provide certificates for deaths that were registered from 1837 to date in Bolton, Farnworth, Little Lever, Blackrod, Westhoughton and Horwich.
To order a certificate you will need to tell us:
- the full name of the person who died
- the date of death
If you are researching family history, wherever possible, it will help if you try to provide additional information.
Certificates cost £12.50 and are posted second class within 15 working days.
Certificates can be processed the same day as priority applications for a cost of £38.50 if ordered by 2pm. Orders after 2pm will be processed the next working day. First class signed for post is included in fee. We do not accept any liability for items once they are in the hands of the postal service.
If you are applying from overseas, payment needs to made in sterling drawn on an British bank account or an international money order. We will try as far as possible to deal with applications as soon as they are received.
If we are unable to find the certificate we will return your payment.
